MediaTek is preparing to unveil two system-on-chip(SoCs) later this month, which acording to the report will include MediaTek Helio P23 and Helio P3 0processors.
MediaTek has started sending invites for the announcement of two new processors – the MediaTek Helio P23 and Helio P30 . Details and specifications are expected to be unveiled at an event in Beijing on August 29.
Going by the report, the Helio P23 is going to be built on the 16 nm process and will feature an octa-core CPU. The SoC is believed to support 2K resolution and dual camera setups. It is also expected to have Cat.7 connectivity and LPDDR4X memory.
The Helio P30 is obviously going to be the most powerful chipset in the P series. It is expected to be manufactured on TSMC’s 12 nm process and to have four Cortex-A72 CPU cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and four more Cortex-A53, again at 1.5 GHz. The connectivity will be Cat.10, which means theoretical download speeds of up to 600 Mbps.
Also the source revealed that MediaTek is considering to drop the price of the Helio P23 SoC in order to match it with the price cut of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC.
However, it quite interesting to know which Chinese manufacturers such as Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi and Meizu might be the first to use these MediaTek chipsets in their smartphones those are to be released in the fourth quarter of this year.
